MANTECÓN TAKES THE PODIUM IN TIERRA ESTELLA EPIC

Sergio Mantecón and Francesc Guerra, Scott Cala Bandida team riders and ISB Sport ambassadors, second and fourth in the Tierra Estella Epic.

This past Saturday, October 1st, the UCI international bike marathon race, Tierra Estella Epic, was celebrated in Ayegui, Navarra, Spain. A race with a particular physiognomy as it did not have big climbs or extreme descents. Its main feature was a route full of singletracks linked through sections of connection. A route of 91.7km and with a positive difference in altitude of 2800m.

The race had a luxury cast in the starting grid that foreshadowed that we were facing a test of high level. “Our bandits” Francesc Guerra and Sergio Mantecón, both members of the Scott Cala Bandida team rider and ISB Sport ambassadors, stood out from the first moments of the race, staying in the lead throughout.

As the course progressed, only the strongest riders were able to keep up with the high pace and a group of 5 riders, including “the bandits”, broke away from the rest.

The last kilometres were some of the most exciting, with Mantecón fighting for the victory with Peter Pruus and Pablo Rodriguez. Finally the Spanish XCM Champion came in second in a thrilling sprint finish. For his part, Guerrilla, who had dropped off shortly before, secured 4th place.

Very good results that once again demonstrate the great shape of the team. And this continues because next weekend we will compete in the Gravel World Championship. The first world meeting of this modality that we face with great enthusiasm.

Here we go!
